Here is Mr.Robert Smiley’s response!
Robert Smiley for Wixom City Council
I’m running for City Council because I want to serve the community that has given so much to my family and me. I live near the VFW Hall off of Loon Lake Rd with my wife, three boys and my parents. I graduated from the Center for Creative Studies in 1992 and I run a modest-sized graphics business from my home. Wixom elected me a Precinct Delegate in 2014. I was then elected by my fellow delegates to attend the County and State Conventions where I pushed hard for a responsible and accountable government. I taught at Henry Ford College for 18 years where I also served on their Advisory Board. I also taught at Schoolcraft College for many years. Our three sons keep us busy, but we love giving our extra time to our church, schools, and community. I coach our local junior football league, and I’m a board member, and I am the Program Manager on the Walled Lake Central Boosters.
One of my priorities is transparency. I want the people of Wixom to know what we are doing and why we are doing it. Government behaves best when there are no secrets. Fiscally, it is imperative to become a leaner, more efficient example of local government. I will consistently challenge status-quo expenditures to insure our monies are well spent. It’s no secret that our Nation’s economy is fragile – positioning Wixom to be prepared for what may come is crucial and is at the core of my priorities. I pledge to assist and simplify business growth that improves our community without sacrificing any of Wixom’s charm. I pledge to be open to all communications and seek fact based decisions. Finally, I promise to hold myself and city officials accountable to the highest ethical standards and to never forget our accountability is to the taxpayers.
