Is Newt the new flavor of GOP?

The now political outsider/insider Newt Gingrich is apparently the latest flavor of the GOP. I have been of the opinion that Mr Newt will be “the” candidate when all the pushing and showing is done. I say this because he is an astute politician, he knows how to talk about any subject, he is persuasive, and he is not afraid to say what he thinks. Couple these attribute with a tenacity of a mad-dog in a political ring, he comes out on top.

Newt understands the political environment and he too knows that Americans have short memories. The don’t care that when his dying wife had cancer, he divorced her and already had a new women in the closet ready to go. Never mind his flip-flopping on issues  or his disgrace from the Congress. And we won’t talk about his financial embarrassments. Again, he is the ideal candidate for the GOP.

Presently, Newt is getting the latest endorsement from the American Pope of Economics, Donald Trump. Now there is a biggie for all Americans to take notice. Donald Trump endorses the Newt. And the Newt says that if he is not satisfied  with the final pick of the GOP slate, he will enter the race for President.

Now this is an interesting political position. If The Newt-er cannot come through, the GOP should not worry, Mr Trump has the backup candidate in the wings with the money ready to go. He will save the day and run for the Presidency. Thank goodness, Americans can feel safe knowing that candidate Mr. Trump is ready and willing to do all he can for the American people at a personal sacrifice.

Finally, the American people should not remember that the Congress voted 395 to 28 to reprimand Mr. Newt for his unethical actions while in the Congress. Mr Newt is an explosive individual. It would be a disastrous situations to have a president that goes up in flames when the world is in turmoil and he wants to use tha power of the US to satisfy that explosive personality on a foreign country , or worse yet the American people who may disagree with him on social and domestic issues.

In summing up this flavor-of-the-month candidate, Mr. Newt and the apparent and deliberate non-cooperative congress, the American voters don’t have much to look forward to.

Yet, I think it would be most interesting to see Mr. Trump and a President Obama debate. Now that would make for a great TV show, or at least a one-night special.  It certainly would be entertainment but not much more.

The American people deserve and need a better way to select candidates. The selection process will not change in my life time, and possibly not in yours either. But money should not be the enabler: common sense, knowledge, ethics, and political skill should enter into the equation.  But as everyone knows: money talks, bullshit walks.

In today’s politics there is plenty of the former and the latter; however, there is little common sense, knowledge, or ethics. I beleive Mr Gingrich was instrumental in developing today’s political environment. His candidacy will be interesting to watch. The Newt is explosive, divisive and a politically inciting individual. The political environment will become very flammable in the coming weeks.

Americans deserve a political debate among and between candidates, but not a political circus. We will have to wait and see if in the comming weeks there is a political discusion of the issues or the Circus has come to town.

Read your comments with interest. Would like to make one correction. The comments about Newts wife dying of cancer and the divorce papers is incorrect. His wife had served him with the papers some time before this. They had already been separated for some time. He signed them and returned them to him while visiting her while she was undergoing cancer treatment. The woman is still alive. This was all confirmed by Gingrich’s daughter about 3 months ago during an interview.

I am not surprised at your comments, but I don’t quite understand or know why.
